NACE – National Association of Catering and Events, recently re-launched their Los Angeles chapter under the leadership and poise of Jose Ramirez, Marketing Manager for AFR. For nearly two years Jose has been working under the radar to revive the LA Chapter - curating a team that would ensure the support needed to carry the association in fulfilling their mission “to provide catering and event professionals superior education, networking and resources to enhance career success and deliver excellence to clients.”
Meet the Board:
Jose Ramirez, AFR Event Furnishings - President
Melody Corvalan, The Westin Long Beach - Vice President
Kate Bartlett, AFR Event Furnishings - Secretary
Jenny Rasmussen, Rock Bottom Long Beach - Programs Chair
Mark Verabian, MVP Entertainment Services, Inc. - Membership Chair
Marcus Anthony Gray, The Little Gray Book - Community Service Chair
In an industry, which thrives on the support of its members and community, NACE strives to stay ahead of the curve by offering its partners a unique take on education and trends. Jose [President] and his team succeeded in this effort, by rallying Los Angeles’ premier partners and an extraordinary panel to entertain, educate, and exhilarate those in attendance at the launch.
Staying ahead of the curve: The Los Angeles NACE chapter secured one of Hollywood’s newest venues At The P, to host its intimate re-launch event.
“The NACE Launch was an exciting opportunity to bring Event Professionals Together in a new Event Venue in Hollywood. It is a blank space but with lots of character with the exposed brick walls, polished floors & bow truss Ceiling.
As Guests arrived we wanted them to be greeted with a signature cocktail or a glass of wine so they could begin networking in a Modern Urban Garden setting.” – Doyle Borden, Doyle Borden - Event Style
Extraordinary Design: Designed by Doyle Borden, Doyle Borden – Event Style in collaboration with Sira and Alton Butler, 204 Events the vision behind Doyle and team came to life explosively, wowing guests from the moment the doors opened and they were invited in.
Filling Bites: Who needs a sit down dinner when you have Pauline Parry of Good Gracious Events! catering? From the cocktail hour, where the passed appetizers never stopped flowing to the main event where the food circled alluringly on a conveyor belt – GG! went above and beyond with their food presentation… and let’s not forget the taste! Pure heaven!
Meet the Panel:
Facilitator: Marcus Anthony Gray, Public Relations Consultant - The Little Gray Book
Panelists: Kristin Banta, Celebrity Wedding Planner & Event Designer - Kristin Banta Events
Krystal Moreno, Catering Director for Casa Del Mar & Shutters on the Beach
David Merrell, CEO & Creative Director - AOO Events
Lara Burnap, Editor - California Wedding Day
To say this panel was unlike any other you’ve seen or heard before would be an understatement. The energy and realness that the panel exuded was comforting and inviting. As part of the design of the space, Doyle and Ramirez wanted the four speakers to not just speak to the crowd but be a part of them. As such, they were seated amongst the attendees, unlike a traditional panel where generally they’re positioned above or in front of an audience. However, more importantly than the seating arrangement was the honesty that each of these professionals answered the questions.
“Because there was a Panel discussion planned for the evenings educational portion I wanted to rethink the way a panel is placed. The Room was designed with 4 Vignette's of furniture, accented by Floral's, to create a large square to showcase 4 cohesive but distinctive looks and to allow the Panelists to be placed in the Center of the room. The flow of the space was to create an opportunity for Guests to mingle freely and engage.” – Doyle Borden, Doyle Borden – Event Style
“It brings me great excitement and inspiration to see NACE LA relaunch. The opportunity to bring together partners and collaborate for the greater good of making people happy and delivering ground breaking life moments is one of a kind.” - Krystal Moreno, Catering Director Casa Del Mar & Shutters on the Beach
“The directness and realness they spoke made it easier to approach them with questions after the panel completed.” – Linda Posnick, Chateau La Femme Boudoir Photography
NACE is ecstatic to have returned to Los Angeles. And if the welcome we received at “At The P” was any inclination as to our future in this city, we look forward to growing and taking these next steps together.
“The NACE launch event was the perfect re-introduction to Los Angeles for such an established association. This chapter clearly has its finger on the pulse within the LA market - from showcasing an amazing venue (that has yet to officially announce its opening to the public) to aligning with some of LA's premier partners, i.e Good Gracious Events!. In addition to the venue and catering, the decor - design - cocktails - and program all exceeded expectations making for a remarkable evening. Needless to say, this was definitely an appropriate start to a great chapter!” - David Merrell, AOO Events
